A local Donegal-Derry bus operator has announced that poor parking has blocked buses from accessing a popular beach stop.

Northwest Busways has had to limit the service from Shrove to Derry due to ‘abandoned’ vehicles blocking both sides of the road to Shrove beach.

Visitors flocking to the beach in the sunshine have been urged to park responsibly.

In an announcement, the bus operators said: “Due to the huge volume of traffic and careless, inconsiderate parking by some, our service to/from Shrove will be curtailed for the rest of this week.”

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to our loyal customers, but we have taken this decision in the interest of passenger safety. Our coach cannot safely navigate this narrow road while vehicles are “abandoned” on both sides.”

They added that gardaí have been informed of the situation.

The 952 service changes are as follows:

The 7.30am service from Greencastle will operate as normal.
The 12.15 service will not go around Shrove, instead it will travel directly from Greencastle via Drumaweir to Moville..
The 1.30 service from Derry will travel via Drumaweir directly to Greencastle, without going around Shrove.
The 5.10 service from Derry will travel via Drumaweir directly to Greencastle, without going around Shrove.
