A Garda had to be treated in hospital following 20 separate assaults across Donegal within the past week.
The Garda was on duty when he was set upon and received a number of injuries.
One man has been questioned in relation to the attack.
Local Gardai revealed that it was just one of 20 assaults that occurred in the county in the past week.
Two of the other assaults were very serious.
One occurred in Dungloe in the early hours of last Sunday morning.
Gardai were called to the town’s Main Street and found a man with extensive injuries.
He was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital where he is still receiving treatment.
Another young man was attacked on the Port Road in Letterkenny around 3am on Tuesday morning and was knocked unconscious.
He was also taken to Letterkenny University Hospital where he was also treated for his injuries.
Garda Niall Maguire appealed to anybody who had any information on any of the assaults to contact Gardai.
