Temperatures will soar to 30C in areas of Donegal today, but the rain could make a comeback tonight.
Today, Saturday will be hot and sunny with clear skies and highs of 25 to 30 degrees in Donegal. The sea breeze will keep temperatures slightly lower near the coast.
Met Eireann’s Ulster forecast says: “Some cloud will bubble up in the afternoon and there will be a chance of an isolated thundershower.”
Tonight will stay warm at 14 to 18 degrees. However there could be showers in the early hours of Sunday.
The forecaster said: “A few showers will develop overnight and some of those may be heavy.”
Sunday will be another very hot day with temperatures generally reaching 24 to 28 degrees, “although it won’t be as hot towards the west and north Ulster coast”, Met Eireann said.
“It will be mostly dry and sunny during the morning with just a few showers. Through the course of the afternoon and evening, scattered heavy and thundery showers will develop. Slow-moving downpours are possible, causing spot flooding.”
A Status Yellow high temperature warning is in place nationwide until 6am on Monday. There will be a gradual return to normal August temperatures next week.
