DMRT issues advice to hill walkers ahead of forecasted storms

The Donegal Mountain Rescue Team (DMRT) is advising people to avoid high ground ahead of today’s forecasted severe weather.

Met Éireann has issued a countrywide Status Yellow thunderstorm warning for this afternoon.

“What an incredible week of beautiful weather we have had. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end,” a spokesperson for the volunteer DMRT said.

“We strongly advise avoiding high terrain during these potentially dangerous weather circumstances. Don’t put yourself at unnecessary risk until the warnings have abated – stay safe.”
