Students of The Royal and Prior excelled in this year’s Leaving Cert’ exams with an exceptional 99% of all papers passed at both higher and ordinary level.

The Principal, Dr Welch, celebrated the resolve and hard work of the students, parents and colleagues.

He said the past three years have been the hardest and most challenging for the whole school community of the Royal and Prior.

A lot has been written and said about the effect of the pandemic upon our young people and, in particular, about the trials for the class of 2022 –  many of them sitting externally marked examinations for the first time,” Mr Welch said.

“We commend all of our students for how, despite the difficult circumstances, they have achieved a wonderful set of results and wish them the very best as they begin the next chapter of their lives.”

He added that the excellent Leaving Certificate results would not have been achieved without the commitment and professionalism of the teachers, SNAs and members of staff at the Royal.

“I also want to pay tribute to the parents and guardians of our students who have been a constant support and encouragement and have enabled these students to achieve such excellent results.”
