Resurfacing works complete on important island road

An important road on Tory Island has finally got a new sheet of tarmacadam.

The Bitmac Contractor, Churchill Stone Ltd, commenced surfacing the Lighthouse Road on behalf of Donegal County Council at the beginning of the week. 

The work was fully completed on Thursday.

The Lighthouse Road on Tory when it was just a gravel track.

“A Massive thank you to Donegal County Council for the great job they did on the road to the lighthouse,” a spokesperson for Comharchumann Thoraí Teo (Tory Co-op) said.

“Thank you also to Churchill Stone and the two Arranmore Ferries that brought the equipment and materials over to the Island for the past four days.”
