Tributes paid following death of popular nun Sr. Gérard McLaughlin

Tributes are pouring in following the death of well-known Donegal nun Sr Gérard McLaughlin.

Sr. Gérard formerly resided at St. Catherine’s Convent of Mercy, Ballyshannon and also Drumoghill, Termon.

For many years she also served the students of St Eunan’s College in Letterkenny who today paid a tribute to the later Sr Gérard.

She passed away peacefully at Sligo University Hospital.

Sr Gérard was predeceased by her mother Hannah, father James, brothers Denis, Hughie, Marcus, Mandy, Paddy, John, Willie and Jim, sisters Bea, Mary, Sheila, Katie.

She will be sadly missed by her sisters Frances and Anne and St. Catherine’s Mercy Community, Ballyshannon, all her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Reposing at St. Catherine’s Convent, Ballyshannon, F94 D309, Saturday from 2pm until 6pm today, walk through only please.

Her removal will take place on Sunday morning going to St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyshannon for 11am funeral Mass with burial afterwards in the Abbey Cemetery.
