A special focus has been placed on Ukrainian refugees and their life in Donegal in today’s New York Times.
The newspaper visits Arranmore Island, Doochary, Letterkenny and Bundoran for an in-depth look at the human stories behind the aid response in Ireland.
The welcomes, challenges and opportunities of the response have been unveiled, as well as a glimpse into the accommodation shortage for asylum seekers and students.
Some 5,000 Ukrainian nationals are currently residing in Donegal, and the NYT finds out how they are adjusting to rural Ireland, what situations they fled from at home, and what they hope for the future.
