Creative Coast Donegal is hosting a series of events for creative entrepreneurs in the county this month.

A series of workshops and pilot network meetings will take place across Donegal, with the aim of bringing together creative entrepreneurs and building a community that works together to grow Donegal’s creative industries.

Local Enterprise Office Donegal is organising the meetings as part of its three-year action plan for the creative industries in Donegal. Commenting on this, Grace Korbel, Acting Head of Enterprise Donegal, said: “The Creative Coast plan for Donegal highlights how creative industries are a dynamic economic sector in their own right. They play an important role in the wider economy and have significant potential for future growth. Through these events, the Creative Coast aims to facilitate innovation, knowledge sharing, collaboration and to inspire the next generation of creative start-ups in Donegal. The strategy is to assist creatives in the county to put the groundwork in place to establish creative, business, innovation and digital supports for the creative sector in Donegal. As part of that commitment, we’re looking forward to seeing as many creative entrepreneurs as possible at our workshops and events throughout September”.

The Creative Coast Donegal initiative was established in 2016 as part of a Strategic Action Plan for Creative Entrepreneurs, with the aim of building a strong creative and digital economy in Donegal with businesses that are robust, confident, financially viable and collaboration-friendly, all impacting positively on the local economy in terms of job creation, while being proactive and competitive on an international stage.

“The key aims of Creative Coast Donegal are threefold” Grace added. “We want to support existing and emerging creative entrepreneurs with the desire, determination and diligence to build strong, sustainable, innovative and dynamic businesses in Donegal. Working together, we also want to build the region’s profile and reputation as a place where the successful development of robust creative enterprises can flourish in a thriving creative economy. Finally, we want Creative Coast to be the conduit that links industry education and other relevant stakeholders with interests and activities in the creative sector in Donegal, so the county makes the best possible use of existing assets and activities and to ensure the most appropriate supports for creative businesses are provided.”
