Donegal charity calls on people to become ‘Legends in Lycra’ for a day!

The No Barriers Foundation in Letterkenny is calling on people to become local legends for a day by joining a unique sponsored cycle.

The fundraising event takes place on Saturday 1st October at 11am in Donegal Town.

This a fun, no barriers day for all. The cycle invites adults to complete a fun 8.3km cycle around Donegal Town to raise awareness and funds for the No Barriers Foundation (click here to donate).

Money raised will help people with disabilities in Donegal and across the North West break down barriers to exercise, allowing them to improve their current level of physical and mental health. Specialist rehabilitation provided by No Barriers includes wheelchair based strength and conditioning classes alongside the Exoskeleton Robotic Suit, which enables people with spinal injury, stroke, MS, brain injury and other conditions to walk and exercise.

On the day, all the Legends in Lycra (of course lycra is optional!) will cycle a safe and marshalled route around Donegal Town. It will be a fun day and a great excuse for you and your friends to get active and get back on the bike, or take part in your first event on the bike. Challenge yourself for this unique and valuable cause.

No Barriers Legends in Lycra

If you don’t have access to a bicycle, please contact event organisers in advance. The Bike Mobile will have a number of bicycles to hire for use for the event and will also be on hand to provide bike repairs if needed.

This is your personal call to become a legend. Get the bicycle out, get your helmet on and get your lycra on! Why not get your friends involved too.

Here’s how you can get involved in Legends in Lycra:

  1. Register to cycle on the day and fundraise.  As a guideline, we suggest that each person that registers to cycle fundraises a minimum of €100.
  2. Donate: If you’d like to sponsor a cyclist or donate to the event, visit https://gofund.me/bfbd7476
  3. If you would like to volunteer on the day of the cycle, please get in touch on
  4. Promote the event on social media. Help us get the word out and support these Legends in Lycra!

Contact Michael on 0872529592 or email michael@bsolutions.ie if you want to take part in the cycle.
