This spectacular image was captured of the moon rising over the ancient Grianan of Aileach fort at the weekend.
The picture was snapped on Friday night by the exceptionally talented, and patient, Daragh McDonough of the popular Donegal Maps Twitter page.
“I took this shot of the rising moon from Ballgreen on the shores of the Lake of Shadows, Lough Swilly, as it rose over An Grianan stone fort,” he explains.
“These amazing astronomical events always make me wonder; what would our ancestors have thought?”
Only recently, the same photographer captured this amazing night-time scene over Donegal.
