Donegal man in court on rape charges

A Donegal man has appeared in court on rape charges.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham agreed not allow the publication of the accused man’s name to protect the alleged victim in the case.

The evidence of the arrest, charge and caution of the accused was given by Garda Sergeant Sean Paul Barrett at Letterkenny District Court today.

Barrister Peter Nolan said there was no objection to bail.

The accused man, who is in his 20s, did not speak during the short appearance.

He is also charged with sexual assault of the same alleged victim.

Both charges relate to the same location in Co Donegal and are alleged to have occurred in August, 2021.

The accused was released on bail and was warned not to interfere with any witnesses in the case.

The case was adjourned until November 21st next.
