New recruits are subject to a Garda Vetting process and will be on probation for their first year.

A spokesperson said: “The first year as a probationary volunteer is quite demanding and all of your basic training/courses will be done inside your first 12months including  Manual handling, First Aid, VHF Radio licease and basic search skills course.

“All training will be provided and all associated PPE(Personal Protective Equipment) will be supplied to you.”

So if you feel that you have the time and can commit to the demanding schedule please email the team at Killybegscoastguard@hotmail.com before the 7th of October.
