The family of brave Donegal teen Rocco McGinley have shared their joy over finding the perfect accommodation in Dublin after a nationwide appeal.
A kind-hearted family has offered their home to the Buncrana boy and his family so that they can be close to St Luke’s Hospital this week and next.
Fifteen-year-old Rocco, who has undergone intensive cancer treatment and surgery in the US, is about to receive urgent radium treatment at St Luke’s in Dublin on Monday. His family launched an appeal this week to try and source last-minute accommodation suitable for Rocco’s needs. Thanks to the power of social media, the appeal reached a couple in Dublin and their friend, who offered up their home for two weeks free of charge.
Rocco’s family shared their delight and gratitude to their supporters today and said: “We have found a home from home in Dublin thanks to the generosity of the absolute earth angels that is @kathleendonlan, her husband and Brian Marrinan their great friend.
“Kathleen, her husband and Brian have offered up their home for 2 weeks for Rocco and his family at no cost. We are so grateful to them and the kindness they have shown the family at this difficult time.
“Rocco’s family would also like to extend their thanks to every person that has offered their homes and rooms within their homes over the last number of days, the kindness and generosity has been outstanding. Thank you to everyone that shared the previous post and made sourcing the accommodation possible.”
