Funeral today of former Letterkenny councillor Jim Lynch

A large crowd is expected today for the funeral of former school principal and Letterkenny councillor Jim Lynch.

Mr Lynch, of Dromore Letterkenny, passed away on Friday 30th September following a short illness.

He will be remembered for his time spent in education but also many years trying to improve his hometown of Letterkenny which he loved so dearly.

His Funeral Mass will take place today Sunday 2nd October at St Eunan’s Cathedral Letterkenny at 3.30pm today.

Tributes to Jim celebrate him as an ardent supporter of the development of Letterkenny. He also played an important role in preserving the history and heritage of his hometown.

His legacy lies in education, politics and community work. He was a retired Principal of Scoil Cholmcille / Cloughfin National School, Ballindrait, the former Mayor and Member of Letterkenny Town Council and a driving force behind the regeneration of the Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter.

Obituary Notice: The death has occurred of Jim Lynch, Fearsaid Mór, Dromore, Letterkenny, retired Principal of Colmcille National School, Ballindrait, former Mayor and Member of Letterkenny Town Council, predeceased by his parents Kathleen and Jack and brother Barry (Cavan).

Deeply regretted by Mary and his children, Cróna Kerr and her husband Tommy, Ríana Lynch and her husband Richard McCollum, Fionán Lynch, Pål Brandsdal and his partner Mona Haugen, his Grandchildren Aoibh, Moya, Elliot and Indi, siblings Bridie Keys, Frances Kerr, Joan Calpin (Ballyshannon), Patsy Lynch, Cathal Lynch, Jacqueline Kelly, Brenda McClafferty, Katrina Murphy (Dublin), Linda Elliot, Fidelma Gallagher, in-laws, friends relatives and neighbours.

Funeral from there on Sunday 2nd October going to St Eunan’s Cathedral for Funeral Mass at 3.30pm which can be viewed online by using the following link https://www.churchservices.tv/letterkenny followed by interment in Conwal Cemetery.
