Donegal star Daniel O’Donnell has shared his heartache for the people of Creeslough.

The singer said he was returning home from a series of shows in Canada and North America when he realised the devastation of the tragedy.

Daniel told the Sunday World that he met a woman whose husband’s first cousin is one of the victims who lost their life in the blast.

“There have been tragedies in Donegal in the past but in my lifetime I have never witnessed anything like this. It is just unbelievable,” he said.

“There are no words that can console or comfort or make a difference to the people affected. I don’t know how they are going to manage to get through it.”

Daniel has sent his thoughts and prayers to the people of Creeslough in the aftermath of the explosion on Friday afternoon.

He said he knew how popular the Applegreen store was: “It’s a one stop shop. How your life can change in a split second,” he added.
