Paul McGinley to donate proceeds from Legends Tour to Creeslough

Golfer Paul McGinley has announced that the proceeds from this year’s Legends Tour will be donated to Creeslough.

Mr McGinley hosted his major ‘Legends’ fundraising event by The McGinley Foundation at Rosapenna in August.

The golf course lies just across the bay from the scene of Friday’s tragedy in which 10 people lost their lives at the Applegreen service station.

Announcing the donation last night, Mr McGinley said the funds from the recent Downings event will now be diverted to help those in need in this “awful tragedy”.

The McGinley Foundation was set up in 2013 to support charities and not-for-profit organisations that Paul and his wife Ally have a close association and are familiar with. The charity is boosted by the Legends Tour which brought golfing stars and celebrities to Donegal from August 18-20 this year.

McGinley was awarded the Freedom of Donegal in August in recognition of his contribution to the county and the place that is so close to his heart.
