Mayor of Milford-Letterkenny gives gratitude to frontline workers and volunteers

Mayor of Milford-Letterkenny Cllr Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly has expressed his sorrow for the people of Creeslough during “this very sad and dark time”.

Cllr Kelly has sent his sincere condolences to all the families that sadly and tragically lost loved ones in the devastating tragedy on Friday afternoon.

“I want to express my sympathy to the entire Creeslough Community on this very sad and dark time my thoughts and prayers are with them all,” Cllr Kelly said.

The Mayor has also praised the ‘trojan work’ of the emergency services and the local volunteers on the scene and in the community who helped in the aftermath of the explosion.

“I want to state my utmost gratitude to all emergency services and frontline workers – to the men of Boyle Construction also Donegal County Council and all the local people and anyone that helped in any way, and of course Siobhan Bonner of the Creeslough Coffee Pod and all her staff. They have done absolutely trojan work.”

Books of Condolence have been opened in Creeslough at St. Michaels Church and at Creeslough Day Centre

Books of Condolence are also available across the County, at the following Council offices from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday as follows:

  • Lifford (County House),
  • Letterkenny Public Services Centre,
  • Carndonagh Public Services Centre,
  • Donegal Town Public Services Centre,
  • Dungloe Public Services Centre and
  • Milford Public Services Centre.
