Communities across Donegal will be gathering in mourning again today as two funerals take place for victims of last Friday’s explosion.

Leona Harper, aged 14, and Martina Martin, aged 49, will take their final journeys later today.

Martina, a mum of four from Creeslough, was working in the Applegreen store when the tragedy occurred. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St Michael’s Church, Creeslough, at 11am followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium at 5pm.

Leona Harper from Letterkenny lost her life in the blast while shopping for ice-cream. Her parents Hugh and Donna have paid heartfelt tributes to her over the past week.

Leona’s requiem Mass will take place at 2pm in St. Mary’s Church, Ramelton (via Ramelton road)  followed by interment in Termon graveyard (via Milford, Portlean and Kilmacrennan).

Creeslough Parish Priest Fr John Joe Duffy has called on anyone affected by the tragedy to seek support for the trauma.

Fr Duffy said: “We are all hurting and we are all carrying pain together, especially all the families, our community, the other communities, our people here and throughout the world. It is our togetherness that will help us along this journey.”

“This is a great parish of great people and we really appreciate you all as we try to come to terms with this accident, we must continue to share our pain and offer the hope to this great community that means so much to us all.

“I also ask you to contact the Health centres or your local GPs who will direct us to those with the necessary skills to help us through this trauma.”
