Works on path to Letterkenny park will be worth the wait – Cllr Kelly

The Mayor of Letterkenny-Milford has welcomed the beginning of upgrade works to the walkway between Whitethorn Close and Letterkenny Town Park.

Donegal County Council has closed the path from today, Friday 14th October for approximately 5 weeks to upgrade the footpath.

Cllr Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly, Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District, said the works will allow more people to access the town park and enjoy all that it has to offer. There will be no streetlights working during the upgrade works.

In June of this year, Cllr Kelly raised a motion with the local council to ask that the existing access lane be improved and that more access lanes be introduced to the Bernard Mc Glinchey Town Park. The routes, he said would help connect all the surrounding housing estates “so as this outstanding park can be seen and used to its full potential.”

Cllr Kelly said today: ” I’m delighted that the works are to commence today although this walkway will be closed for a few weeks for repairs I do believe that this will be worth the wait for all that use this walkway.

“I also want to thank the staff in DCC for taking my motion on board.”
