A host of stars from the screen and stage are to gather in aid of a popular Donegal musician who is battling cancer.

Ann Mooney, from Gaoth Dobhair, is undergoing urgent treatment for cancer and needs vital funds to cover the costs involved.

Ann is the sister of Altan star Mairead Mooney who has helped organise the gig at Vicar Street on November 28th next.

The night promises to be one to remember with traditional and folk music from some of our most distinguished musicians and singers, including Altan, Moya Brennan, Luka Bloom, Louise Mulcahy, Cormac de Barra T with the Maggies, Neil Martin and actor Stephen Rea plus many more to be announced.

A spokesperson for the organisers of the event described Ann as “a free-spirited soul” who always went above and beyond for others.

Now they want to do the same for her.

“Ann is well-known and loved within Irish Traditional Music circles as a beautiful singer and musician. She has also been a powerhouse in the Irish television and film industry for many years.

“Those fortunate enough to know Ann Mooney know of her free-spirited soul and her passion for life and adventure.

“An incredibly selfless, generous, kind and loving person – she always goes above and beyond for those she loves, and with this special concert, we want to do the same for her.”

Tickets priced at €25 plus booking fee are available at https://www.ticketmaster.ie/a-gig-for-ann…/artist/5398561
