Two men have been hospitalised with serious injuries.

The two-car collision occurred on the Ramelton Road outside Letterkenny just five minutes before midnight.

The young girl, who was the front-seat passenger of one of the vehicles involved, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The male drivers of both vehicles were taken to Letterkenny University Hospital with serious injuries.

The road is currently closed and the services of Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested. Local diversions are in place.
