Two young Donegal men have been awarded the Garda Síochána Community Safety Award for their great work in their local area.
The pair worked to aid elderly in their community by ensuring their smoke alarms were working and to install any in need of replacing.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Last year, Alan McCarron and Cormac Brady voluntarily set about visiting elderly in their community of Termon and Kilmacrennan Co. Donegal to check, fit and install smoke alarms.
“Those they visited were subsequently added to a database at Letterkenny Fire Station so that they will have a return visit to check their alarm in two years time.
“Alan and Cormac also worked with Letterkenny Fire Station and sought the support of Carbon Monoxide Ireland to warn of the dangers of Carbon Monoxide.
“They are the winners of our Community Safety Award.”
