This week marks Design Week Ireland 2022 which is run by the Design and Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) which provides a programme of events, talks and conferences focusing on why design matters.

Design matters greatly in Donegal and Design Week provides an opportunity to showcase some of the 131 Designers and Makers listed on BuyDonegal.com with companies ranging from handcrafted jewellery, clothing, digital prints, candle makers and soaps.

One such example is Pixalili Teoranta, a textile printing and design studio in Downings, Co. Donegal. The family run business with the help of their large digital printer whose name is ‘Florence’ print on natural fabrics using eco-friendly pigment inks. Pixalili’s range extends from cushions, lampshades, bags, tea towels and much more which can be personalised to your requirements. They are also offering a 15% discount on their website with the code #BuyDonegal.

Touch of Venus Jewellery – Exclusive Jewellery Boutique inspired by Venus – the Goddess of Love and Star of Beauty, established on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way in November 2018. The award-winning online boutique are offering up to 40% off for ‘Black Friday’ this week providing the perfect opportunity to style yourself with attitude, fashion, and confidence.

Growing up in a family where traditional sewing and knitting skills were valued as the textile industry was booming in the north west, Inishowen based Bernie Murphy, uses her skills to create beautifully crafted womenswear using the dramatic Donegal landscape as her inspiration for her range.

In West Donegal, Morag McCafferty also uses the local landscape as her inspiration for her oil paintings and prints which captures the ruggedness of Donegal’s coastline. Morag’s collaboration with Rita Wilson Photography who provides her mounts and frames also captures the collaboration between businesses which is such an important part of the #BuyDonegal campaign.

Textile Designer, Eilis Galbraith takes inspiration from her country life and idyllic northern surroundings. Eilis offers a range of hand drawn, digitally printed homeware products, that are designed, created and made in Ireland.
