A dead stag on the roadside outside Raphoe has added to fears of the dangers of deer on Donegal’s roads.

A number of motorists have reported incidents with deer in recent weeks.

However, the discovery of a large stag on a roadway is unusual.

The stag was pictured dead at the side of the road by local man Norman Holmes.

It is understood the animal had been struck earlier by a passing vehicle.
