Eight former health centres across Donegal remain vacant, it has been revealed.
The centres in Burtonport, Clonmany, Carrick, Doochary, Derrybeg, Pettigo, Moville and Kilcar are part of ten vacant HSE premises across the county.
The HSE revealed the figures and details of the vacant properties following a query by Donegal County Councillor Gerry Crawford at today’s Regional West Health Forum.
As well as the health centres, other properties include two private houses in Donegal Town.
The HSE revealed that they are in the process of being sold while others are not fit for purpose.
Councillor Crawford said he was keen to see the buildings, where possible, restored and put back into use.
He said “I think it’s important that all these buildings be put back into use. They are prime locations and wouldn’t have been health centres otherwise.”
He also suggested he believed there are also other vacant HSE properties which could be on the vacant list.
