The devastating news has come through this morning that brave nine-year-old girl, Caitlin Strain, has passed away.

The inspirational Burnfoot girl had battled against a brain tumour for a number of years and was undergoing specialist cancer treatment in the United States.

A major fundraising drive had been ongoing to help pay for the costly treatment.

Caitlin will be sadly missed by her parents, Thomas and Eimear, her loving sisters Maria, Danielle and Laura and her loving brother Michael.

Caitlin will also be sadly missed by her grandparents Monica Gibson and Ann Strain, her uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and friends.

Caitlin’s remains will be reposing at her home from 4.00pm this afternoon.

Removal from there on Tuesday at 10.15am to St Aengus’ Church, Burt for Requiem Mass at 11.00am followed by interment in St Mura’s Cemetery, Fahan.

Caitlin’s Requiem Mass can be viewed on www.churchservices.tv/burt

Family time please from 11.00pm to 11.00am.
