A second person has been arrested in relation to an incident in Co Wexford in which a nine-year-old boy was viciously attacked by a dog.

Gardaí confirmed that a woman, aged in her 30s, was arrested this morning.

A man in his 20s was arrested in relation to the same incident last week.

Alejandro Mizsan, aged nine, suffered serious face and leg injuries when he was attacked by an unmuzzled pitbull in Enniscorthy on November 27th.

Alejandro was playing on a green area of the Old Forge Road estate when the attack happened. It’s understood that a neighbour managed to hit the dog with a baseball bat to try to end the attack. Young Alejandro was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery to treat the serious injuries to his lip, both cheeks and left eye. He also suffered serious leg injuries in the attack.

Gardaí gave an update on the investigation today and said: “Gardaí investigating all the circumstances of an incident that occurred on Sunday, 27th November 2022, in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, where a male child received serious injuries after being attacked by a dog, have arrested a woman.

“The woman (30s) was arrested this morning Monday 5th December, 2022 and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Enniscorthy Garda station.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
