A recent evening of poetry and song in Glenties has raised over €2,000 for the victims of the Creeslough tragedy.

The money was raised at a successful ‘All Around the Bloomin’ Heather’ event at The Highlands Hotel in Glenties on 18th November.

Entertainment was provided by Charlie Boyle, a renowned poet from Glenties, and Kevin Dunleavy from Ardara who complemented Charlie’s poetry with songs. They were joined by 1992 All-Ireland winning captain Anthony Molloy, who has just published his autobiography, and Dr David Keenan from Belfast. Guests also enjoyed wine and cheese tasting and local spirits. A photo exhibition by PJ Spillane added to the evening.

Proceeds for the event were by donation only, and just over €2,000 was collected for Creeslough.

Charlie and Kevin visited Creeslough Parish Priest Fr John Joe Duffy last Sunday to present the proceeds.
