A Donegal hotel has been short-listed in two different categories at the Irish Beauty Industry Awards which take place tonight (Sunday).

The Shandon Spa have been nominated in both the Spa Team of The Year and the Residents Spa of the Year at the awards which take place at the Crowne Plaza Dublin.

The Shandon team, including Spa Manager Eibhlin Canon, will travel to the event.

Carolynne Harrison, Director, and General Manager of the Shandon Resort said she is delighted for the Spa Team.

“The team have put in a huge amount of work in bringing the spa up to the highest of standards. Being nominated as finalists in these awards is some reward for all their hard work.

“We hope that all the team have a great night in Dublin no matter what the outcome of the awards are. They deserve it,” she said.

The Shandon spa is an award-winning adult only luxury spa.

Among its many features are new Private Hire Bayview Tubs, Luxury Thermal Spa comprising lounge bar, vitality pool, massage jets, heated loungers, foot spa, salt & eucalyptus grotto, herbal sauna, ice fountain and outdoor communal Canadian hot tub overlooking the bay as well as 8 Luxury treatment rooms and hair salon.

Made possible due to the unprecedented success the resort has experienced since it opened in 2016 under new ownership of Warren McCarthy.

Ms Harrison has been at the helm since pre-opening.

Before the current owners and management took over, the resort was typically seasonal but it is now busy throughout winter with 140 staff employed from the area as a result.

She added that it makes her proud to see how her team has grown and how many have developed into amazing leaders in their respective departments from entry level to the top of their game.
