We had literally hundreds of entries for this year’s Donegal Daily Dashing Dog Contest.

It was such a difficult choice narrowing down the entries just to ten.

The difficult task of picking the eventual winner fell to Frances O’Reilly, owner of the wonderful DogDry.

And Frances’ choice for the Donegal Daily Dashing Dog of 2022 is (drumroll please!) – Maggie May.

Frances said she found it so difficult to choose a winner as all the dogs had so many different features.

But of Maggie May she said “She’s not just gorgeous with those beautiful brown eyes, she also clearly enjoys outdoor life and is patient and affectionate with the people around her, both big and small. She’s an all round dashing dog.”

Maggie May (pictured above), who is owned by Leo Brennan, will receive the following prizes:

Our winner will receive:

  • A DogDry gift hamper containing the brand new Irish DogDry drying robe for dogs who love to make a splash
  • A year’s supply of dog food (with conditions) courtesy of LK Pets
  • A framed dog portrait by Brian McDaid at Cristeph Studio
  • A five night stay with Amanda’s Kennels for when the owner takes a well-earned break
  • A head-to-toe groom courtesy of K9 Academy
  • A brilliant doggy bag full of goodies!

Thanks to everyone who entered the competition this year.

We’re sorry there could only be one winner but as dog-owners ourselves, all our dogs are winners in our eyes.
