Rhys and Zach McAuley became Under-15 National Champions at the FZ Forza U15/19 Irish Nationals in Dublin.
The Raphoe Badminton club duo beat fellow club mate Jerald Baiju and his partner Adhi Gopinath 21-19, 21-17 in the Boys final at the Baldoyle Badminton Centre.
The McAuley’s beat another clubman, in Corey Chambers and Dylan Keane in the quarter-finals, 21-16, 21-19 before beating Robert Cowman and Oscar McElligott 21-13, 21-12 in the semi-finals.
Rhys took bronze in the singles event, losing out to Jeffrey Rong 21-18, 16-21, 14-21, while he always took silver in the mixed doubles event with his parter Amber Buchanan, as they lost out to Andrew Hassett and Nicole Joy 21-12, 21-19.
Kimberly Pearson and Amy Moore both took bronze in the Girls doubles with losses in their semi-finals.
Pearson and Amber Buchanan lost out to Amira Pender and Hannah Shochan by 14-21, 21-5, 17-21, while Moore and her partner Ella Cheung lost out to eventual winners Nicole Joy and Zarah Pender 12-21, 6-21.
Pearson also had semi-final defeats in the mixed doubles, as her and Rong lost to Rhys and Buchanan 16-21, 21-17, 21-16, while she lost her singles semi-final to Shochan 17-21, 19-21.
