Donegal County Council gritters are treating all main roads in the county this afternoon from 2pm.
The early call-out comes ahead of another bitterly cold evening and night, with temperatures likely to dip to -7C.
Patches of fog, frost and ice are lingering through the day in Donegal with lows of -1C and highs of just 4C in places.
A low temperature/ice warning remains in place for all counties until midday Friday.
