There is huge sadness both in Donegal and in Boston following the passing of brave cancer patient Vivienne Lynch McDaid.

The popular Buncrana woman travelled to Boston last year and underwent surgery to remove a tumour from her liver.

A massive Go Fund Me fundraiser was launched which raised over an incredible $200,000 which was also used to pay for eight cycles of chemotherapy in Boston.

However, the sad news has now emerged that Vivienne lost her battle with cancer earlier this week.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, Wednesday, December 14 in St. John the Baptist Church in memory of the brave Donegal woman.

Vivienne is survived by her loving husband Eamon, son Damien and daughter Chloe and extended family.

Many local clubs and groups have paid fond tributes to Vivienne following her passing.

Among them was Illies Golden Gloves Boxing Club of which daughter Chloe was a former Irish champion.

The club said “We at the club are greatly saddened at the passing of one of our boxing mammies Vivienne Mc Daid.

“A kind and helpful person who always helped out at club events making tea and sandwiches.

“Vivienne fought her illness with determination and dignity. Our sincere condolences to her husband Eamon son Damien and daughter Chloe and all the family at this sad time. Vivienne your memory will always live on Illies Golden Gloves Boxing Club. Rest In Peace Vivienne.”
