Widowed-mum-of seven fined €150 for selling flowers on street

A widow-of-seven children has been fined €150 for not having a license to sell flowers.

Maria Cirpaci, 47, appeared at Letterkenny District Court charged under the Casual Trading Act.

The court heard Ms Cirpaci, of Fortwell, Letterkenny, was stopped by Gardai at 2.30am on Main Street, Letterkenny on August 21st last when she was selling roses.

The court was told she was asked for a Casual Trading License but she did not have one.

Solicitor for the accused Mr Patsy Gallagher said his client was a widowed mother of seven whose husband died ten years ago.

He added she receives €350 and that four of her children were still dependant on her.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham fined Ms Cirpaci €150.
