The community notes for Dunkineely/Bruckless/Killaghtee have just been published.

Christmas Event

What a night! With free hot chocolate, sausage rolls and mince pies (and some mulled wine) flowing, we all had a great night at DCL’s Dunkineely Big Christmas Event.

Postponed from the previous week, due to weather, the decision was taken to hold it inside the Dunkineely Community Centre, where it was warm and Christmassy.

We were all treated to some Christmas songs, both traditional and fun from the Bruckless Choir. With a great rendition of Jingle Bells by the choir and all the kids.

And let’s not forget the big man himself and his elves. Santa arrived to say hello to each of the kids and hand out some early stocking fillers.

“It was a wonderful night, with real community spirit” – Janet Deane (Chair of DCL)

A big thank you to Santa, his elves, Dunkineely Community Centre for donating their time and main hall to the event, to Stella, Janet and Kathleen for baking, to the choir for entertainment and to everyone else involved.

For photos and video, check out our Dunkineely Community Ltd Facebook page.

Hamper

Don’t forget, our Christmas Hamper lines are still available from Floyd’s Mace. All proceeds to the

Dunkineely Christmas lights fund.

Get your ticket by Thursday to win goods with a value of €250!

There are some amazing prizes in the hamper: €50 in vouchers from Floyd’s, a €50 voucher from the Rusty Mackerel, €40 voucher from Olivia’s Beauty Salon, €30 voucher from Byrnes Meat, €20 cash from John the Barber, two bottles of Jameson from McIntyres and Macs Bar, a bottle of wine and box of chocolates from Breslin’s garage and a box of Celebrations from DCL’s Stella.

€2 per line. The draw will be held on 23 rd December and posted on our Facebook page.

A huge thankyou to all those that donated prizes.

Good luck, and from all of us here at Dunkineely Community Ltd, have a great Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

Bruckless N.S.

The children from Bruckless National School held a craft fair and coffee morning on Friday 9 th December to raise money for the school and St. Vincent De Paul.

The children made a range of hand made and hand crafted decorations and various crafts to sell on the day, raising €447 for the school, while €170 was raised from the coffee morning.

The money was presented to Barry McGowan and it will be used to support local families in need this Christmas.

A spokesperson for the school said: “Our first school Christmas Craft Fair was a huge success. A sincere thanks to everyone who attended and supported the school and the children who have all worked so hard to make it the success it was over the past few weeks”.

“Thanks to the parents and everyone who helped out with refreshments and organising this morning and special thanks to everyone who sent in home baking. Without the support of our families and community these events would not be possible”.

The school is also doing a raffle. Tickets can be bought by contacting the school or sending a message to their Facebook page. Cost €2 each or 3 for €5.

Killaghtee N.S.

Killaghtee N.S. held their Annual Christmas Service on Tuesday 13 th December in Dunkineely Methodist Church.

A great night for everyone there.

Many thanks to all who came out on the cold frosty night to attend, your support for the pupils was very much appreciated.

The school wants to thank everyone for their generosity, which raised €402.15 for school funds. A huge thank you to all!

This year we celebrate the 20 th anniversary of one of the most historic victories for the club. The videos of both final victories will be shown in the bar commencing at 8pm.

It would be great if as many of the players and supporters who were in MacCumhaill Park, Ballybofey, on that wet Sunday could come along and relive the great day it was.

Also, for anyone who missed the opportunity to view both games in the past this is a great chance to do so. All are more than welcome to attend!
