If you got a drone for Christmas this year, Donegal Airport is reminding new users to learn how to fly it safely.
Donegal Airport is protected with a Control Zone (CTR) and it is illegal to fly any drone at any time within the Control Zone unless you have permission from air traffic control at the airport. A safety map and Drone Code is available at: https://donegalairport.ie/drones/
Anyone who has a drone that is over 250g, or has a camera, must register themselves online as drone operator on the Irish Aviation Authority register
The IAA is reminding people that flying a drone in public requires training, as they can have serious consequences if they are flown inappropriately, or collide with a person, an animal or an aircraft.
