Many of Donegal’s best-known female musicians will be coming together this January 6th for Nollaig na mBan.

The Wild Atlantic Women and friends will perform their annual concert at Ards Chapel on 6th Jan 2023 at 7.30pm.

The free event will be a wonderful night of reflection, song and music, featuring singers, musicians and poets from across the north west.

The theme is hope, peace and gratitude, remembering absent friends and sharing current friendships as we embrace a new year together.

Brí Carr

Organiser Brí Carr said: “We decided that it would be lovely to join together in a pared-back, prayerful easy-listening concert celebrating Nollaig na mBan with members from the Wild Atlantic Women and friends.

“All are welcome and the teashop will be opening for refreshments.

“The theme is hope, peace and gratitude, remembering absent friends and sharing current friendships as we embrace a new year together.”

The Wild Atlantic Women group comprises many talented women of the north west who have been connected by a love of music and heritage. They launched the Wild Atlantic Women ‘Live, Laugh, Love’ CD for the Donegal Hospice in 2018.

Artists lined-up for this week’s concert include Brí Carr, Brí’s daughter Caela, Wild Atlantic Women members Maria McCormack, Anne Biddie, Carol Wilson, Jean Curran, Helena Kenny, Trudy Ni Dhomhnaill, Sarah Louise McFadden, Falcarragh Folk Choir, Hannah NicPhaidín, Ella Fitzgerald, Margaret MacAteer and more.

Poetry and reflections from Denise Blake, Aine Ni Churrain, Karen Murphy, Ena Barrett and Colette McCallion.

All welcome, free entry.
