Four people have been treated for their injuries and two others have been arrested following what gardaí described as a public order incident in Killarney, County Kerry.

RTE News is reporting that the four people who were injured were stabbed. None of the injuries are said to be serious.

The incident happened at around 8.15pm yesterday evening at Hotel Killarney, which is currently being used as a direct provision centre to accommodate applicants for international protection.

Several gardaí and a number of ambulances attended the scene.

Two men in their 30s were arrested. They are being detained under section four of the Criminal Justice Act. They are being questioned at Killarney Garda Station.

The four people who were injured were brought to University Hospital Kerry for treatment. They are said to be aged in their 20s and 30s.

Gardaí say their injuries are not life-threatening and that investigations are ongoing

The scene where the incident happened has been sealed off for a technical examination.
