Two one-day courses for adults to learn about nature and wildlife will be held in Glenveagh National Park next month.

This winter sees the launch of a new, free, event that aims to help anyone who would like to get to know a little bit more about nature.

The Connect with Nature – Adult’s Winter Workshop runs on the new bank holiday weekend in February with a choice of two dates.

It offers participants a chance to deepen their relationship with nature through a full day learning experience in the National Park.

Winter is a special time to visit Glenveagh. People are invited to book and come along this February and experience the tranquility of the winter landscape and to take the first steps into nature.

“You don’t need to go fast or far to discover and experience the natural world all around you,” a spokesperson for the park explains.

“Our workshop provides you with the space to take some time out of your busy schedule and spend a day in the outdoors. This experience is suitable for retired people in the local community, new arrivals to the area or anyone who would like a gentle introduction to Irish nature and biodiversity.”

The workshop will also give you a chance to unwind, connect with nature and unleash your creativity.

Spend time being mindful in nature as you get to know about our natural world and how to care for it with the help of Glenveagh’s friendly education staff.

“We will take you on an immersive nature walk through beautiful natural habitats as you learn a little bit about nature and connect with your environment through nature art.  Delve into our nature library at the Education Centre over tea and chats and visit our wildlife garden. The workshop and all equipment is provided free of charge. Just bring your own picnic and snacks and a flask.”

This event is suitable for absolute beginners; no previous experience is needed.

A choice of two dates is available; Sunday 5th or Monday 6th of February. Workshops run from 10am-3pm and are held in The Education Centre, outdoor classroom and on the Derrylahan Nature Trail.

This is a bookable event that is suitable for adults and can be tailored for groups of up to 15. The
