Guinness-owner Diageo will hike the cost of its products by up to 12c per pint next month.
From 1st February, drinkers will have to pay an average 15c extra for a pint when VAT is added to the total.
This will bring the average price of a pint of Guinness to €5.30, according to national estimates.
Alcohol giant Diageo said the price increase is to absorb rising costs, and they had held off on the hike until after Christmas.
The increase will apply across all the brewery’s brands, which includes Guiness, Rockshore, Smithwicks, Rockshore, Harp, Hop House 13 and Carlsberg.
The follows a 17c pint price rise announced by Diageo’s rivals Heineken in November.
Vintners’ Federation of Ireland chief Paul Clancy said the increase is the second major price increase members are having to deal with in a few short weeks.
“Publicans are getting hammered from every angle at the moment and this news from Diageo is a further blow to the trade,” Mr Clancy said.
