Two gardaí in Co. Meath have been hailed as heroes after their quick actions saved the life of a baby girl.
Garda Edel Dugdale and Garda Grace Murray were on duty in Trim Garda Station recently when a distressed woman came to the door.
The woman was carrying her three month old baby girl who was unresponsive. The closest hospital would be about 15km away.
Garda Dugdale and Garda Murray immediately responded with lifesaving CPR. The baby regained consciousness and was cared for until paramedics soon arrived.
“Both baby and mother are now doing well and have fully recovered from what must have been a traumatic experience,” a spokesperson said.
Gardaí shared details of the incident this week to highlight the knowledge and skill of the officers.
“The quick reaction of both Gardaí combined with their skill and ability to remain calm in this pressurised situation, is a fitting example of the everyday acts that members do to keep people safe,” the spokesperson said.
“We’d like to thank this young mother for placing her trust in local Gardaí to help at a time of need.”
