Met Eireann has upgraded its wind warning for Donegal for today to Status Orange.
Status Orange is the second highest weather warning used by the national forecaster.
A warning of severe gusts of wind sweeping across the county will remain in place from 2pm until 8pm today.
The warning form Met Eireann states “Gale force westerly winds for a time this afternoon and evening with some severe and damaging gusts. Winds will reach storm force in coastal areas.”
The warning advised people to be careful for downed trees, power outages and says there will also be travel disruption.
There is also a rain warning leading to localised flooding for the county today and tomorrow.
