Donegal County Council gritters will be in action on selected routes in Donegal tonight as temperatures dip.

As strong winds continue, there is a chance of some snow on mountains in Donegal overnight as well as hail and sleet on high ground.

Tonight will see lows of 0 to 3C in the north west and “a touch of frost in sheltered parts” according to Met Eireann.

A status yellow wind alert remains in place for Donegal until 10pm.

Met Eireann says: “Continuing very windy, but the strong to gale force and gusty westerly winds, will veer northwesterly and gradually moderate later in the night.”

Donegal County Council confirmed that the following routes will be gritted from 8PM on Sat. 14/01:

  • 01: National Primary North
  • 02: National Primary Central
  • 04: Inishowen South
  • 05: Inishowen East
  • 06: Inishowen West
  • 07: Milford South
  • 09: Cill Ulta East
  • 12: Binswilly
  • 13: Stranorlar North
  • 14: Stranorlar East
  • 15: Stranorlar West
  • 17: Donegal North
  • 18: Donegal South
