The northwest will be hit by more snowfall and freezing conditions tonight, Met Eireann warns, as another ice warning is issued nationwide.
Temperatures will plummet to lows of -1C to -5C in parts of the northwest overnight.
There will be widespread severe frost, patches of mist and fog and icy stretches.
Snow showers are set to continue throughout the day and in northern areas overnight. Today is remaining very cold with temperatures rising no higher than 3C.
A status yellow ice warning has been issued by Met Eireann from 4pm this afternoon (Monday) until 12noon Tuesday.
Forecasters warn of wintry showers in the northwest and southwest.
“Icy stretches leading to hazardous travelling conditions, especially on untreated roads and paths.”
“Accumulations possible, especially in mountainous areas, leading to disruption,” the warning said.
