THE FAMILY of the late John O’Brien from Falcarragh have proudly presented a cheque for €17,000 to Donegal Hospice.

The amazing sum was raised at a hugely successful New Year’s Day charity football match at Pairc Joe, home of Glenea United.

John O’Brien, who sadly passed in January 2021, was an integral part of the famous three-in-a-row league winning side from the early 00’s, captaining the team to one of those titles.

In his honour, the community came together on January 1st to watch stars of the famous 3-in a row team take on a Legends side made up of former teammates of John.

John’s wife Sharon and daughters Aishling, Siobhan, Christina and Aoife said: “We would like to thank anyone that helped out in any way to organise the event, we are so grateful to you all.

“A special thanks to Glenea United Fc ( Gleann Átha Aontaithe) and Teach Dixon who helped to make it such a successful day.”

Thanks also to all who donated prizes to our raffle:
