Two Carndonagh Community School students finished in an impressive second place in their category at the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.

Ciara Gilmore and Beth Doherty (below) were delighted with their placing in the Senior Group Biological and Ecological section.

Their project was titled ‘Reactivation of the Epstein Barr Virus (Glandular Fever); is there a connection between the recurrence of it and Post-Acute COVID-19? – A Statistical Analysis.’

The girls surveyed students from secondary schools across the country to find out how many had a recurrence of glandular fever as its reoccurrence is linked to having long Covid.

They analysed their data and concluded that students were three times more likely to experience the issue after having reported long Covid.

Staff at Carndonagh Community School were delighted with their achievement.
