A grieving husband has reached out to thank his local community following the tragic death of his wife and best friend.
Popular Killybegs man Frankie Kennedy and his family were left heartbroken following the death of former postmistress Eileen.
Eileen died tragically following a road traffic accident in the town last week.
Despite his immense loss and grief, Frankie has taken the time to publicly thank all those who reach out to his family in any way.
Frankie wrote “With the recent loss of my lovely wife and best friend Eileen, I would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of love for our family.
“It made a very difficult time a little easier. Thanks also to the doctor, nurses and paramedics who tried to save her at the scene, to the Gardaí, especially Odie McBride and Maeve Logue, and to the staff of Letterkenny Morgue.
“Our sincere thanks to our neighbours and friends who did everything in the house from feeding the multitudes to the lads that braved the elements parking cars in horrendous conditions.
“To all the people that sent food and beautifully cooked meals thank you also. Special thanks also to Fr Colm Gallagher and McBreartys Funeral Directors for a very professional service and to all our relatives that travelled from far and near to be with us in our time of grief.
“Eileen would have been so chuffed to see how many people loved her. Thank you seems not nearly enough… I know she sleeps with the Angels. We will miss you xx
“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam. Frankie, Colin, Ronan, Aidan, Mary, Clare, Laura, Róisín and Ciara.”
May she rest in peace.
