Finn Harps will wear black armbands tonight in their first pre-season friendly in memory of Ronan Roddy.
Ronan, who was described as ‘part of the fabric of our club’ by Harps Chairman Ian Harkin, sadly passed away on Wednesday following illness.
The former Finn Harps steward was one of the most recognisable faces for anyone who stepped foot in Finn Park and served at the club for over 20 years at every home game.
Finn Harps travel to Oriel Park tonight to face Dundalk and will don the black armbands for the avid Harps supporter.
A spokesperson for the club said: “The team will wear black armbands during tonights preseason friendly with Dundalk as we remember our dear friend and volunteer Ronan Roddy who sadly passed away this week.”
Finn Harps posted on Wednesday when the news of Ronan’s passing broke:“Today we are all heartbroken at the news that we have lost our man Ronan.
“Our steward, supporter and our great friend. Ronan, it’s impossible to imagine match nights without you. Thank you for all your help, your kindness, your sense of humour and for being such a loyal and valued member of the Finn Harps family. Our sincerest condolences to Phil, Pauline, Timothy, Louise and all of Ronans family and friends.
“Ronan you’ll always be part of us. RIP.”
Ronan’s funeral will leave from his home on Saturday, Jan 21st, at 10.30am for Requiem Mass in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar at 11am.
