Temperatures are set to drop to freezing lows again in many parts of Donegal tonight.
There is a risk of more frost and ice as temperatures dip to -2C in areas.
South Donegal is expected to escape the coldest conditions. Donegal County Council gritters have been dispatched to the majority of main routes this evening since 4pm.
The thaw is expected to begin from tomorrow, according to Met Eireann.
“Temperatures will increase later in the night as cloud thickens and outbreaks of rain and drizzle develop,” the Ulster forecast said.
Tomorrow, Saturday, will be cloudy and misty with patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Donegal will see highest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees in mostly moderate southerly winds, fresher along coasts.
“Milder through the rest of this weekend and into next week too,” Met Eireann forecasts.
